There are primarily two ways of motivating yourself, fear and reward. And among fear the dread of death is the most callous. And as they say life flashes back on the death bed only to reveal the true essence of how you spent it and final hopes of what you wished it were.

Imagine that you are on your death bed and your grand children are by your side, and you are narrating them how you lived your life, what you achieved, what you're grateful for, the legacy you have left for them. You have just one minute (that is it, yes life can be this short). Without thinking much, can you articulate your answer right now in just one minute?

Most people cannot articulate the answer in one minute and instead they have regrets!

Interestingly, when you ask someone about the vision for himself, his/her children and his business, most common replies that you receive are:

1. I want myself or my son/daughter to become a doctor/engineer/accountant/architect etc. I want my business to make ‘x’ amount of profit!
2. I'll see as life moves on or I don’t want to force any particular profession/field on my child. Whatever he/she would like, I am fine with that.

Well, the career and profit is a part of the vision, it is not all of it. The vision is way beyond that. For example, just ask the following questions to yourself:

1. What is the impact that you would like yourself and your children to create in this world using career, business, strengths and skills?
2. What is the biggest accomplishment that you would like yourself and your children to make in their lifetime?
3. And above all, what kind of person and a parent you would like to become in order to get to your vision and facilitate your children to accomplish what you have envisioned for them in questions 1 & 2 above?
